Voice Assistant Bixby to Power Samsung Electronics’ AI Home Appliances Print Editor Michael Herh 닫기 Bixby, an upgraded artificial intelligence (AI) voice assistant, will be applied to the Bespoke AI home appliances. (Photo provided by Samsung Electronics) Samsung Electronics' Bixby, an upgraded artificial intelligence (AI) voice assistant, will power Bispoke AI home appliances of Samsung Electronics, making it easier to control home appliances with voice commands that understand contexts based on natural language. Samsung Electronics announced on Aug. 26 that the new Bixby update centers on Bespoke AI product lines launched this year. This will make voice control easier and more convenient by allowing users to speak multiple commands in a single sentence so that a Bespoke AI home appliance can understand each intention of its user, remember previous conversations and connect them to the next command and let the user ask questions and get answers from the appliance. For example, a user says, “Set the air conditioner at 26 degrees and finish the laundry by 5 p.m.” and the air conditioner and the washer powered by Bixby will understand and perform the commands, even if the user gives different commands at once. The user will be able to conveniently check device manuals and usage tips for Samsung's AI home appliances with voices. For example, if you ask Samsung's AI home appliances how to use them such as “How do I wash part of the washing machine?” or “How do I change the air conditioner filter?” they will immediately understand your intention and tell you the instructions with voices. Also, if you do not know how to wash golf clothes or baby clothes that require special care, you can ask a question and receive a recommendation for an appropriate washing process. This makes it easy for consumers to get information about their products without the hassle of finding their manuals or calling the Samsung Service Center. The new Bixby update will be available for the Bixby AI Family Hub Refrigerator, the Bespoke AI Combo, the Bixby AI Steam, and the Bixby AI Windless Gallery Air Conditioner, all of which were released this year, and will gradually cover more products. However, it is necessary to install and link SmartThings App for each device, and the range of voice-enabled functions may vary depending on product specifications. Users of the Bispoke AI Family Hub Refrigerator can also enjoy creating their own wallpapers with the Generative Wallpaper feature. Users can choose their favorites among seven themes including nature, flowers, events, and food, and six art styles including watercolors, oil paintings and illustrations to create their customized images.
